Trap

Ghostcat has been gone for a few weeks now but she left her fleas behind in my apartment. So, while researching natural ways to exterminate I found this method:

Fill a pan half full of water
Place on floor in front of TV before going to bed
Turn on TV and turn off sound
Wake up in morning and be amazed at the number of fleas that watch TV.

I've used the bowl of soapy water with a lamp light hovering over it method before and it works. But, naturally, I love this idea.

Designing Women

Lately, I've been obsessed with 1990s hip-hop, which has really led to an obsession with all things 90s. When I was 9 I remember I was completely mesmerized by the ladies of Designing Women and Murphy Brown. Watch this link. After reading Wikipedia I learned that this speech is often recited word for word in gay clubs and bars. Amazing.

Southwest Airlines Peanut Policy

"Because it is nearly impossible for persons who have an allergy to peanut dust to avoid triggering a reaction if peanut dust is in the air, Southwest Airlines is unable to guarantee a peanut-free or allergen-free flight. We have procedures in place to assist our Customers with severe allergies to peanut dust and will make every attempt not to serve packaged peanuts on the aircraft when our Customers alert us to their allergy to peanut dust."

WHAT PROCEDURES? ARE THEY DRASTIC?

Today

The past two days have been an improvement. Yesterday I was made aware that I got a 95 on my Chemistry test and an 84 on my Anatomy lab exam. Dope enough. Then Dad and I went to lunch at 59 diner and split a tuna melt and a milkshake!!! GEE WIZ. Then, we walked to 1/4 Priced Books around the corner. I'd never been yet always meant to. It was way better than expected. They had a bunch of vintage books wrapped up in plastic. I always love that.

And then today, I went to Bikram yoga at 8 a.m. Success! Came home and dreamt about making pancetta hash. Another time. I am going to make every single one of the breakfast items you posted from Smitten Kitchen earlier this week. Now I'm drinking coffee. Perfection.

B&B dream

In a few years, I want to open a B&B with my significant other. The S.O. came to me last night with the idea, and it's perfect. We'll live in the Virginia foothills or somewhere else and live on an old farm and he'll have his job and I'll mostly run the B&B. I can have a few guests every night and cook for them too. Plus, the S.O. says if your home is a business you can pay less taxes or something. Anyway.

Imaginary B&B breakfast menu:

Dreamy Cream Scones OR Cream Biscuits

Huevos Rancheros (but I would add some spicy chorizo to this)

Spring Asparagus Pancetta Hash

Pancakes w/ Real Maple Syrup

Then, obviously an assortment of beverages.. coffee, tea, juices, what have you. I think I'd also experiment with french toast, other egg dishes like eggs florentine, homemade donuts, and other breakfast meats. I should probably offer some fresh fruit and granola if people aren't feeling too starved. Oh also-- maybe biscuits & gravy with sausage? haaaaaaaaa YES. HOW GREAT WOULD THIS BE??? also, a perfect job to have with CHILDREN. GOD.

once lost convo now found

Bear: ask me what i just ate
Eclair: what was it?
Bear: a tomato and mozzarella crepe
from the new crepe cart on the corner
where a little french boy works
Eclair: no way
i remember this crepe cart
you telling me about it
a little french boy
Bear: yes
Eclair: gosh
Bear: i finally went today
on a whim
now i've ruined my lunch
Eclair: ha yes you have
Bear: the crepe got messy at the end
i want to try a sweet one
a nutella one
Eclair: those are the best
you wont' be sorry
Eclair: i'd like to remind you of my breakfast: eggs with HOT sausage in them topped with feta cheese, avocado, and basil.
thank you.
Bear: STOP IT
look
i'm a little upset about ruining my lunch
even if it was with a crepe
SO I DON'T REALLY WANT TO TALK ABOUT FOOD RIGHT NOW
CAN'T YOU GET THAT?
Eclair: and i was JUST about to elaborate on my toast

Emmie

The other day Emmie and I were closing the pottery studio and wondering what to do with the balloons that were leftover from a birthday. And, Emmie said, "Just leave them. They'll be dead by morning."

omfg. i died laughing. THEY'LL BE DEAD BY MORNING.

Also, I need to describe Sunday to you. The closer we get to Mother's Day the crazier it gets at the studio. But, we had a magical day yesterday due to a mixture of the following people. We had a 4-month old baby with her mom and aunt. They were taking footprints of the baby and painting their own pieces. We had another family with two little boys that were obsessed with this baby and wanted to "touch her toes" and sing "seagull, seagull" to her. Her mom encouraged them to sing to her and said that "seagull, seagull" was her favorite song. Just so you know, they meant "twinkle, twinkle." Then Bob arrived with his children and grandchildren wearing a fedora and chewing on the longest cigar I've ever seen. He painted a mug with the name BART on it. I love the old folk because they always give their first and last name and then shake your hand. Beautiful. Meanwhile, there was a 5 year old's birthday party going on and the place was full of people and energy. For a moment some of these groups started to crossover and talk to one another. Hillary and I just stood there in the middle of the studio and watched everyone because there wasn't anything else that we could do. I felt like I was at a family reunion.
